More about Clare

While respecting its roots in classical drama the modern profession of dramatherapy has evolved from the theories and practices of anthropology, psychotherapy, theatre, play and movement.

These influences have helped inform dramatherapy’s present-day application in clinical practice.

Working within a psychodynamic framework dramatherapy accesses the metaphor, symbol and imagery of the client’s experience through rich and eloquent resources such as play, story and role. It is through these creative forms, and through the relationship with the therapist, that a client can explore, identify, understand and work through feelings of distress, overwhelm and unease.

These resources enable the client to communicate with Clare. Sessions offer a space where feelings can be expressed safely. Silence and stillness have equal therapeutic value in dramatherapy. There is no need for the client to be “good at drama”: dramatherapy is not about putting on a public performance. More About Sessions
